Fort Munro is named after Colonel A. A. Munroe, the town was founded by Robert Groves Sandeman, who was a British Indian Army Officer, in the nineteenth century. Fort Munroe is located at a height of 1,972 m (6,470 feet) in the foothills of Koh-e-Sulaiman Mountain Range & also known as Tuman Leghari. Fort Munroe is also called “Mini Murree” by locals as it is one of the coldest places in the region, which also experiences snowfall every now and then. Located 85 km from the city of Dera Ghazi Khan, Fort Munroe is directly linked to National Highway 70. It is the highest point of the Koh-e-Suleman mountain range & often considered as the ‘jewel’ of southern Punjab. There is also a very beautiful natural lake in the area.
