Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) under the patronage of Punjab Government, is actively promoting the tourism in the province. TDCP has been organizing Thal Desert Rally since 2016 in the majestic desert of Thal, lies in the districts of Muzaffargarh and Layyah, for the promotion of Southern Punjab as a winter tourist destination and also for the promotion of Motor Sports in Pakistan. The rally was planned in under-developed districts of the province to generate economic activities to help and promote the local culture of Punjab.

The Thal Desert Rally cannot be organized without the active support of Pakistan Army and contribution made by district governments of Muzaffargarh & Layyah to organize the rally. The total track of the rally was 195 KMs which started and finished at Changa Manga Tila, Muzaffargarh where the midpoint was established at Choubara, Layyah. The event organized in mid-November every year. More than 100 participants take part in the rally including the female racers. There are 09 categories in the rally.
